Blues in the District back for 14th season
Press Release From the Historic Quincy Business District; taken from the www.quincynews.org website:
This summer will be the 14th season of the Historic Quincy Business District’s Blues in the District Concert Series. The concerts are held in Washington Park and are free to the public. (These shows are put on by the HQBD-not-The Mid-Mississippi Muddy Water Blues Society). This year, the Blues in the District Concerts will feature new hours. Concerts will be from 5:30 to 9:30pm.
“We think these new hours will give people a chance to wrap-up their work week and get down to the park and see more of the concert,” said HQBD Executive Director Travis Brown. “It should also help us in the hot summer months in getting a little more shade in the park before we get underway.”
Kicking off this year’s season on June 10 will be Grady Champion, the 2010 International Blues Challenge winner. Other acts throughout the season will be Preston Shannon (June 24), returning act Laurie Morvan Band (July 8), Big James & the Chicago Playboys (July 22), Andrew “Jr. Boy” Jones (August 12), Dave Herrero (August 26) and another returning act Reverend Raven (September 9).
“Our committee has been working hard and we have a great season in store for Blues in the District,” said Brown. “We have great acts that will be coming in and some wonderful vendors and sponsors this year. We are looking forward to seeing all of our friends back in the park for a great summer of Blues music.”
