As I write this-we have 11 holes confirmed, with the possibility of one or two at the most additional to be added before the event. We will start and finish at The Casino Starlite at 20th & Cedar. We hope to have the doors open at noon, registration at 12:30, and official start time is 1pm. (though-as soon as we’re ready to go-teams that have registered and have scorecards in hand can get started…)  Here’s who we have signed up so far:

Every team is invited to play ALL of the holes, BUT-if you want to qualify your team the chance to win a cash prize, REMEMBER-we will need to have your team scorecard turned into the BNO Staff BY 6:30pm with at least 9 HOLES COMPLETED by all of your team members to be entered into the Winner’s Drawing, where 5 Teams will win a $100 Prize!

This is how it stands for the moment, if there’s any additions-I’ll update this post…NOTE-for entry forms, they can be found here on the homepage. They are found either farther down this page, or on the right side of the page in the LATEST UPDATES SECTION. Please get your entry forms in the mail by Friday Feb. 3rd, or just bring them with you on the day of the event-we’ll take as many teams as we can on the day of the event.

 NOTE-we do reserve the right to cut off registration if we feel we have reached a maximum capacity of teams, to be determined by the event chair, and the staff  of the Blue Note Open…

Ask guys like Clapton, Jagger, Mick Fleetwood if the Blues are important to music, and see what they have to say about it…”However, to not recognize Blues as it’s own unique genre of music, with it’s rich historical background, not to mention the influence Blues has had on several other genres listed at the GRAMMY website, is clear evidence of their disrespect towards this purely America art form”-taken from the Petition.

We’ve set the date for this year’s annual BLUE NOTE OPEN-Quincy’s ORIGINAL Winter Indoor Golf Tournament! This years date is FEBRUARY 11th 2012, and the starting and ending point is The CASINO STARLIGHT at 20th & Cedar in Quincy…AND WE’RE MAKING SOME BIG CHANGES THIS YEAR…

This year-We are awarding $500.00 in Cash Prizes! We will award FIVE TEAMS A $100 CASH PRIZE! How’s this going to happen? This year-here’s how your team can win…

We are planning on having more than 9 holes available for play this year, to allow every team the opportunity to complete nine holes of play… 

IF YOUR TEAM COMPLETES NINE HOLES, AND IS BACK AT THE STARLIGHT BY 6:30 PM, WITH A SCORECARD SHOWING A MINIMUM OF NINE HOLES SCORED-YOUR TEAM THEN QUALIFY TO WIN CASH! 

AT 6:45pm-WE WILL DRAW OUT 5 WINNING TEAM SCORECARDS, AND EACH TEAM DRAWN WILL WIN $100 PRIZE! 

This will give every team a opportunity to complete 9 holes of play, AND also will give more teams a chance to win cash, even if your designated driver is a bad golfer! (We require that EACH TEAM HAVE A MANDATORY DESIGNATED DRIVER!)  We are trying to increase the “FUN” part of this fundraiser for everyone involved.

We will be sending out letters to our past team captains next week, and we are expecting to be able to handle a few more teams. But-if we need to, we will cut off the total number of teams if we feel that we’re hitting the limit of what we can handle.  If you want to get new team together, and need a team form and rules sent to you, e-mail webmaster(at symbol)quincyblues.com and I’ll send you this in either pdf or word format… Make your plans, get your team(s) toghter, and we’ll see you February 11th at the Starlight!

RIP Doyle Bramhall – February 17, 1949 to November 12, 2011
This sad news just in: Texas blues legend Doyle Bramhall died from heart failure in his sleep Saturday night, at home in Alpine, Texas at the age of 62. He reportedly had been suffering from pneumonia in recent days. Bramhall was famous for his work in Austin, Texas with both Jimmie Vaughan and Stevie Ray Vaughan, as well as his great solo efforts. A top-notch drummer, singer, band leader and songwriter, Doyle helped to define the Austin blues scene. Many of his songs appeared on Stevie Ray Vaughan’s most noted albums. Doyle`s son, Doyle Bramhall II continues his father’s tradition as a major musical force. To read Doyle`s bio on the Yep Rock Records website click http://www.yeproc.com/artist_info.php?artistId=200. Doyle will forever be considered an influential and important figure in Texas blues, and he will be deeply missed by his legions of fans.
