Just a reminder that the next Free Blues in the District Concert is on Friday Night June 24th, from 5:30-9:30 down at Washington Park, in downtown Quincy IL. This weeks performer will be “The King of Beale St.” from Memphis TN-PRESTON SHANNON. He’s a Blues veteran, and I believe you will thoroughly enjoy Preston’s music.
ALSO-this Friday night kicks off the MIDSUMMER ARTS FAIRE-so the park will be totally surrounded by many art vendors. Check them all out during the evening, you’ll be amazed at the talent you’ll see, and most-if not all of them will be selling their goods, so don’t forget to bring your credit cards! The Arts faire will be going on all weekend down at the park-but if you see something you like, chances are someone else does also, so you probably should buy on Friday night-and then bring family and friends down on Saturday or Sunday to show them all of the great Art down at the park…
And lastly, on a different subject. If you are a record-not a CD person, I’ve got some good news for you. Several of the Blues Record labels are re-releasing some of their classic records back on vinyl. Here’s a link to a couple new re-releases of a couple albums on the Blind Pig Label for you, check it out: http://mailman.305spin.com/view/?cid=2&sid=3079&uid=49358&lid=6314
Here’s some from Alligator Records also: http://www.alligatorrecords.com/index.cfm?section=search&currTrackNum=1&playPosition=36477&vol=70&pan=0&playState=play
And here’s some great vinyl from Delmark too: http://jazzrecordmart.com/cgi-bin/mivavm?Merchant2/merchant.mvc+
