This is a direct result of the February fundraiser-”BLUE NOTE OPEN” Indoor Golf Tournament. (I will be posting a article about the Blue Note Open, and some pics from it later this week-webmaster) Proceeds from this event in the past always went towards helping fund the annual “Quincy Area Blues Festival”. But this year, with no annual QABF scheduled, the Society decided to give a hand to a couple local school music programs. We’ve now given to the QND Jazz Band, and we are also going to match that donation, and give $1000.00 to the QHS Jazz Band as well. And we are also going to use funds from the Blue Note Open to be the sole Sponsor of the Sept 10th “BLUES IN THE DISTRICT” Concert-featuring past Blues Fest performer LARRY McCRAY!  And what funds are left will be designated towards funding a “Blues in the Schools” music program in the 2010-11 school year. Thank you to all who participated in the the Annual “Blue Note Open”, not only did we we have a blast, but we’ve helped support local school music programs, and also are helping to “keep the Blues alive” in our local area as well.
